Awards and Recognition
Many of our exhibiting artists are members of other galleries around the country. They also participate in juried shows and competitions. This column celebrates the achievements of those artists. Please check back frequently to keep up-to-date regarding the awards, honors, and recognition of the talented artists of Gallery 302.
Cathy Grigsby recently finished this fabric piece, which was commissioned by the librarian of Stevens Brook Elementary School, the school where Cathy taught for 29 years. The piece was paid for by the North Bridgton library funds, which were distributed after their closing. Ms. Grigsby recently presented the piece to the school and did a lesson for the 5th graders on how it was made. She quilted the background with conventional fabrics and the various characters were made using disperse dye papers that the artist made, created into collages and printed onto polyester fabric. The characters were hand stitched onto the background with some 3-D qualities. To see this piece in person, please come to the Bridgton Quilt Show, July 9 & 10
