NANCY MORGAN - FABRIC ART

My pieces are quilts done in the raw edge appliqué technique using hand guided, free motion stitching on a sewing machine. Each piece begins with a photograph which I take. The original photograph is then used as a guide to draw a sketch of the image on fabric. This fabric sketch is then used as a base for the quilt.  Each color you see represents a separate piece of fabric layered and stitched on the quilt base. There is no painting involved. Accents are applied using thread, and shading is added using layers of black or gray tulle (nylon net used in bridal veils). Within the fabric art community my work stands out for its innovative style and attention to detail. nancymorganart@aol.com
