STEPHEN ALAN CARPENTER - OILS
"I have always had a strong interest in the creative process. It has always been fascinating to me to watch a painting come to life through the artist and the paintbrush. At a young age I had the desire and interest to pursue art and painting. Since then, it has been a lifelong passion of mine. I began painting during my school years. My passion for art began in high school influenced by my art teacher, Mrs. LeClaire. I attended private art classes under the direction of artist William Moise from down east Maine. Most of my skills have been self-taught through books and research. Many years later during my career as a Fire Captain at the Brewer Fire Department, I found many opportunities to paint. Since my retirement in 2021, I am now able to devote more of my time to my passion. I am now able to paint full time. I paint to reflect and improve my skills, but also, I enjoy the journey. The need to create is like an itch, you just have to scratch it. My work has been displayed at the Bangor Sidewalk Art Show, The Bar Harbor Art Show on the Green and The Bangor Public Library Juried Art Show, I was awarded first place in oils, for the painting entitled “Molting”. I have many paintings in private collections displayed in Maine, including the towns of Bangor, Brewer, Northport, Palermo, East Pond and Yarmouth. I also have paintings in the states of Michigan, Connecticut, North Carolina and Florida. I am fortunate to be displayed at Gallery 302 in Bridgton Maine. The greatest joy is knowing my work is displayed where people can view and learn my journey as an artist." Email Stephen at sacarpenterartist@gmail.com
